Our mission is to lead the way in building a sustainable circular economy through the collection of plastic beer clips, the innovative upcycling of coffee grounds into products, and the delivery of comprehensive sustainable education. We are committed to creating a community where resources are shared, reused, and waste is minimized, ultimately eliminating the need for landfills.
About the Founder
I’m Sharka Hornakova, a passionate waste warrior and the founder of Donut Waste, a social enterprise dedicated to fostering a circular economy through innovative waste solutions. With a background in working for a local e-waste recycler and as a waste education officer for a local council, I decided to start my own social enterprise to create a bigger impact in the field of sustainability.
Donut Waste isn’t just a business to me; it’s a mission to significantly contribute to reducing the environmental impact of our daily actions. I’m committed to inspiring others to join the movement towards a greener and more responsible world.
In December 2023, I completed a Diploma of Sustainable Living with the University of Tasmania, further enhancing my knowledge and understanding of sustainable practices.
Beyond my dedication to sustainability and waste education, I’m a passionate animal lover (aka crazy cat lady), a certified fitness instructor, and a yoga teacher. My diverse interests reflect my commitment to a holistic approach to life and my desire to inspire positive change in the world. I eagerly look forward to collaborating with you and your community to create a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
