DIY BODY SCRUB WORKSHOP

Duration: 1.5 hours

Participants will learn how to reuse coffee grounds to make their own divinely-smelling body scrubs. Perfect as a sustainable gift or treat for themselves.

This 1.5-hour hands-on workshop introduces the idea of homemade skincare products as a natural, environmental and cost-effective alternative to buying pre-packaged products.

This workshop includes an engaging presentation about the materials used, good practices, and where to locally and sustainably source products.

Participants take home one body scrub in their own jar.

The presentation includes an intro to another 4 products – spritzer, face mask, body cream, and deodorant.

DIY PLASTIC-FREE DEODORANT

Duration: 1.5 hours

Participants will learn how to make their own sustainable, plastic-free deodorant. Perfect for a Christmas or birthday gift.

Making your own deodorant saves money, is healthier for your body, reduces packaging and the best part – it actually works!

This 1.5-hour hands-on workshop introduces the idea of homemade skincare products as a natural, environmental and cost-effective alternative to buying pre-packaged products.

This includes a presentation about the materials used, good practices, and where to locally and sustainably source products.

Participants take home their own deodorant in a provided 30 ml tin.

Includes all materials and a handout with a recipe.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to assess their workplace’s environmental impact and identify opportunities for improvement. We’ll delve into various aspects of workplace operations – from energy consumption and waste management – covering topics such as reducing energy spending, implementing waste reduction measures, and transitioning to eco-friendly products and sustainable practices within the office.

HOW TO RECYCLE LIKE A BOSS WORKSHOP

Duration: 1.5 hours

An interactive workshop where we not only talk rubbish but also physically sort out commonly used items.

We will cover what happens to each residential bin and where the rubbish goes. (Tailored to your local council area.)

This 1.5-hour session includes hands-on sorting of everyday waste items, packaging and the biggest contaminators like nappies and soft plastic.

We will cover product stewardship schemes such as CDS and NTCRS and other local options like TerraCycle and Donut Waste.

Our emphasis will be on Avoid, Reduce, Reuse and then knowing exactly how to Recycle as a last resource.

ORGANIC WASTE: WHY AND HOW TO COMPOST IT

Duration: 1.5 hours

Australia possesses some of the most depleted soils globally, despite approximately 40% of the average household bin comprising organic (food) waste.

During this workshop, participants will gain insight into the significance of diverting organic waste from landfills.

Our aim is to provide practical guidance on setting up an alternative composting bin, even for those on a budget. Additionally, we will explore alternative solutions, such as worm farms and bokashi, catering to individuals who may lack a garden or dedicated space.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will be equipped with knowledge and options to effectively manage their organic waste, fostering a more sustainable approach to waste management in their households.

Actions trump ideas! 

I’m a passionate waste warrior and sustainability practitioner. I believe we all have a responsibility to reduce the environmental impact.

Having worked for several years at a local e-waste recycler and as a waste education officer for a local council, I’ve now embarked on my own journey by founding a social enterprise to make an even bigger impact.

My mission is to activate our community through fun and accessible education, inspiring tangible, sustainable actions that lead to a real change.
