Donut Waste: Sustainable Workshop Series

Confused about how to manage your waste responsibly and recycle correctly? Interested to learn more about how to compost like a pro? Keen to get your hands dirty and create your own sustainable beauty product? This series of four workshops is for you.

In these interactive workshops, you will be empowered to live more sustainably and will be inspired to take actions to minimise your impact on the planet.

The workshops will take place at the Canning River Eco Education Centre (CREEC) in Wilson over four Saturday mornings:

• Saturday, 16 September from 10am to 11:30am
• Saturday, 23 September from 10am to 11:30am
• Saturday, 30 September from 10am to 11:30am
• Saturday, 7 October from 10am to 11:30am

A different topic will be covered at each workshop:

• How to recycle like a boss

An interactive workshop where we not only talk rubbish but also physically sort out commonly used items. The emphasis will be on Avoid, Reduce, Reuse and then on how to Recycle correctly as a last resort.

• Organic waste: how and why to compost it

During this workshop, participants will gain insight into the significance of diverting organic waste from landfill. The aim is to provide practical guidance on setting up a composting bin, even for those on a budget.

• What is a circular economy and why it matters

Through engaging discussions and practical examples, we will explore how businesses across the globe are transitioning from a linear “take-make-dispose” model to a circular approach that prioritises resource efficiency and waste reduction.

• DIY coffee scrub

Participants will learn how to reuse coffee grounds to make their own divinely smelling body scrubs. This hands-on workshop introduces the idea of homemade skincare products as a natural, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective alternative to buying pre-packaged products.
