What do you do with collected can clips?

We wash them, sort them out according to size and colour and pack them back into boxes for breweries to reuse them again.

What do you do with collected coffee grounds? 

Glad you asked! We take your coffee waste to the nearest community garden or composting station free of charge. If you have a great need for coffee grounds and would like to become our regular end-user, please get in touch!

Why is there a fee?

Businesses pay for waste collection regardless of where it goes. Redirecting funds and resources to the local community is a no brainer.

Donut Waste is a social enterprise – when businesses decide to work with us, they know that they’re investing in everyone’s future by supporting a movement that benefits all, not just a select few.

How much does it cost to recycle coffee grounds and who pays for it?

  • The venue which produces the waste pays for the service. They are the ones benefiting from it financially as they save space (hence money) in their waste bin.
  • Prices start from $0.80 per day per pick up + you get a free bin. (Worth $55.)

If you are a busy venue with large volumes of grounds, we will work together to figure out the best pricing and pick-up frequency for you. We’re very flexible and believe we can find a way to make it work, for all of us and together do good for the environment.

Why should we sign up for a separate collection of coffee waste if we already have a bin we’re paying for?

  • Unless you have a special bin for organics, your coffee grounds end up in your general waste bin and then goes to landfill. 
  • Organic matter is one of the worst things in landfill as it produces methane – a greenhouse gas which is 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
  • Our service is set up to benefit
    • the environment (avoiding the production of methane gasses),
    • the community (creating beautiful rich soil for our gardens) and,
    • the venue (saving on landfill bin and attracting sustainably-minded customers).
